Effective Cancer Treatment
Cancer is a class of animal disease, medically known as malignant neoplasm, in which a group of cells shows uncontrolled growth i.e. division beyond normal limits, infiltration and damage of tissues around them and blood ( Lymph). This practice is not just limited to homosepians, but can also affect animals.
Reportedly, 7.6 million people died of cancer in the previous year.
In most cases, cancer is diagnosed as a symptom and its diagnosis is usually confirmed by a pathologist, a type of physician who specializes in the diagnosis of cancer. The suspects are usually examined with medical tests such as blood tests, X-rays, CT scans, and endoscopy.
What is the most effective cancer treatment?
There are various methods of cancer treatment such as surgery, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and many other methods. The type of method employed depends on the general health and location of the patient and the stage of the tumor.
Complete surgical excision is possible in very few cases because cancerous tissue usually metastasizes to other locations of the patient's body before surgery. Prostate cancer is the surgical treatment used to treat breast cancer, prostatectomy is used for prostate cancer. The purpose of performing surgery requires the removal of the tumor or the entire affected organ, which is unfortunately limited to very few cases of small cancers.
Radiation therapy is also known as radiotherapy. It uses ionized radiation to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors. This damages the genetic material of the cells, preventing them from producing further replication. The drawback of this method of curative is that it often damages normal cells in addition to harmful cells. However, in most cases normal people recover and work well again, leading to permanent damage in some. It is used in the treatment of brain cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer and cancer of the skin, prostate, uterus, stomach, or pancreas. Even lymphoma and leukemia can be treated by radiation.
Cancer can also be treated by chemotherapy which involves the use of drugs that destroy rapidly dividing cells. It interferes with cell division in various ways and has the potential to damage healthy tissues. However, these healthy cells repair themselves after chemotherapy. High dose chemotherapy is used for the treatment of some lymphomas and leukemia.
Targeted therapy is another medium for treatment that employs certain agents that are specific for the derigated proteins of cancer cells. It also contains small peptides that bind to the surface cell receptors surrounding the tumor.
The growth of some cancers can be checked by injecting or inhibiting certain hormones. Some hormone sensitive cancers are breast and prostate cancer. Removal of estrogen or testosterone is also often used as an additional treatment.
Controlling the symptoms of cancer is not just a conservative form of treatment aimed at cancer, but it also determines the standard of living of cancer victims, and plays an important role in deciding whether a person will be able to take other treatments .
